How To Make The Most Of Your Sunday: Summer Edition

When I think of Sunday mornings, my mind becomes filled with heart-eyed emojis and all the coffee cravings - it is without a doubt, my favourite day of the week. On a budget and wondering how to spend yours? Then I have some (albeit kind of generic) ideas to make the most of your last slice of the weekend. You know what they say: 'A Sunday well spent brings a week of content'...

Most evenings and weekends, but especially on a warm Sunday I love to lay outside with a good book, iced latte and some Lana del Rey playing in the background. You could do this anywhere; on a picnic, on the beach or just in your back garden but seriously, don't underestimate the power of summer's simple pleasures.

I've set myself a three-book goal this season to ensure I make the most of my outdoor reading. The list consists of: Get Your Shit Together by Sarah Knight, Into the Water by Paula Hawkins (author of The Girl on the Train FYI for all you fellow fangirls) and The Last Piece of My Heart by Paige Toon.

Now, now - hear me out. Whilst most of your mates fill up on a cooked breakfast, it might feel like complete torture to even mention the word 'sports bra' on what is supposed to be a day of rest. However, I'm telling you now there is absolutely no smugger feeling than finishing a sweaty HIIT workout on a Sunday morning while everyone else is asleep/hungover/in a bacon and sausage food coma. Try it for yourself and I promise I won't even say 'I told you so!' which is pretty tough when you're this much of a know-it-all #summerbod

Whether it's to sit in the cafe or find some plants for the home or garden, I love to be around a bit of green. I recently whiled away an afternoon in the local garden centre with my Nanny - everyone say 'awwwwww' - and we had a whale of a time eating lunch and finding her a pretty lavender plant to pot in her front garden.

Bonus point: Recruit a grandparent and as well as a fun day, you'll also climb a little higher in the ranks for Top Grandchild award...

Can you tell I'm on a bit of a budget this summer?! Seriously though, I'm kinda sick of excessive weekend spending that eats it's way through 80% of my money, so when I have sunny weather on my side I'm going to seize the opportunity to save a little! For this one, all you'll need is little bit of spare change for an ice lolly or nice beverage - does anyone else feel five again, or just me?

When the sun has it's hat on, David and I have enjoyed walking around the local park, ice-cream in hand - Magnum for him, Fab for me - to make the most of the UK's summer spoils. Friends and dogs are also great company, but should you have failed to pick your friends/partner wisely enough to ensure they have a furry friend, then I have the next best thing: a heavily populated dog park.

Rain or shine, the way I like to finish each of my Sundays (with the addition of Love Island obvs) is to plan the upcoming week, from blog writing to work outs, even down to when I'll do my washing. Smonday (aka when the joy of a Sunday evening is replaced by the dread of Monday morning) is an evil mistress, so by filling out my Bullet Journal with the week's tasks and events I alleviate some of the looming work/life anxieties. Also, I get to see where I will have gaps in the week to do that aforesaid reading and Love Island watching before my beloved Sunday rolls around again... *sigh*
