ONE PIECE / THREE WAYS

/      a simple top that ticks all the boxes

the second chapter to my seasonal spring haul.

amongst the acquired treasures, this belted black piece from river island deserves honourable mention for its three style functions. first up and as intended, the structured top cinched in at the waist with the accompanying tie does wonders for accentuating the smallest part of the body. i have a complex about my pear shape so items worn like so - especially in a darker colour - are invaluable to my wardrobe.

everywhere i look i see chokers, neck ties and plenty of other décolletage accents spanning across all trends and tastes. for me, i like to keep things more understated so my second interpretation of styling this top is by simply wrapping the waist tie instead around the neck. its a little more fancy pants in my opinion, but nonetheless suits casual, workwear and evening dress codes depending on its pairings.

lastly - and fairly obviously - the structured shape looks more feminine when tucked into a trouser, skirt or shorts. the downside of this top is when paired with black trousers, this piece looks somewhat like a beautician's uniform. tucking it in however combats this little setback, reigning it in and keeping it cool.

i love items that do all the thinking for you. as much as its enjoyable to get creative with personal style, sometimes all you need is a few fail-safes. plus, if they have multi-purpose uses then all the better.
