I've been on a slight accessory kick of late, wanting to dote on the details rather than plain, old retail (plus, my tee collection is getting slightly out of hand anyway). With the pretty Riva ring already in my paws, I took a trip down to the Thomas Sabo store where I picked up one of their Eternity pieces, to act as a lovely, little sister ring. Together, I'm in <3.

The necklace, I'm sorry to say I can't seem to find online for you, but I was lucky enough to spy it in the River Island sale section for one pound! I haven't taken it off since, so something to remember next time you're browsing and like the look of it...

And lastly, these cobalt blue pixie shoes from Zara are the perfect addition to my shoedrobe. I was missing a smart pair of flats, plus I have a weakness for all things in all shades of blue so be sure to spy these in a ootd post sometime soon!

DISCLAIMER: NO BRAGGING, NO NOTHING - I JUST ENJOY POSTS SUCH AS THESE AND HOPE THAT YOU DO TOO :-)

So just a few days ago I turned 22 - it was no big to-do, nothing fancy, just a little old birthday for a little older me. Don't get me wrong, I love a good celebration with big, exciting plans in tow, but this year all I wanted was a day off to eat food, drink Pimms and blow out my candles quietly. And so that is exactly what I did. I watched Jurassic World in the cinema (again), had a peach iced tea without feeling guilty about the extra syrup and unwrapped some pretty lovely presents.

The star of the show was, of course, the Riva ring from Monica Vinader - she is minimal, a little irregular, and overall just perfect. Other gifts included:

a stack of books for me to plough through
lush goodies
m.a.c
a bonzai tree for my room aka greenhouse
a lot of marble
candles
bronze goddess by estee lauder
zara tees
a slouchy everyday bag

and a bit of money to treat myself: I'm thinking a bomber jacket and birkenstocks? y/n?

Happy Sunday lovely

ON ROTATION // SUMMER EDIT

22/07/2015
BREAKFAST: Toast

ON MY LIPS: M.A.C Stone / M.A.C Yash

CURRENT TWEET: 'So I've opened my presents - no sausage dog just yet but I'm optimistic...'

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: Pimm's, sunshine and family

____________________________________________________________________

Obviously, given that its England, summer days can be few and far between. However when the sun does have its hat on, I've definitely acquired a certain sort of uniform to save myself much thought when in a morning rush.

DISCLAIMER: I definitely find my casual dressing tendencies increase tenfold in the summer, so if a rotation of flats and loose fits are your cup of joe then...

1/ deep back details

I would definitely say this is my summer signature - to me nothing is better looking than a low back and a deep tan. Admittedly, my tan comes from a bottle and is a little lacking even then but the vision is what counts. My favourite picks come from New Look, and for £8 a pop in every monochrome option there is, I'm a very happy camper. They work well with denim cut offs for daywear or tailored trousers and a heel for the night time, and don't even get me started on how handy they'd come in on a holiday...

2/ converses

Converses are easily my most worn shoe. Super comfy and all white, well its not really a surprise is it? Although, I admit usually they're more of a dirty brown/grey colour, these pups are actually fresh from the washing machine especially for their moment in front of the lens. My favourite way to wear them is with raw hem jeans or as the finishing touch of footwear to an all-white outfit.

3/ lace

Whether it be something subtle like a delicate lace bra or as a detail on a pair of shorts - you can't deny how pretty a splash of lace can be, especially as a feminine touch on a more androgynous outfit.

4/ denim

I not along ago spoke about my growing love for denim in a post titled 5 THINGS TO SMILE ABOUT, so I won't harp on too much about the genre but its important I explain just how versatile it is, and therefore why my collection of it has grown at a ridiculous rate over the past couple of months.

Denim jackets, sleeveless or otherwise have been a firm favourite, as well as shorts, shirts and of course the classic: a good pair of jeans. I've definitely been in favour of a distressed finish, so rips and raw hems have been the main attraction in my wardrobe, and ideally in a black, bleach or true blue wash to achieve a cool 90s vibe.

5/ ralph lauren day bag

I now have a fair few bags around this kind of size - I used to carry around my kitchen sink in ridiculously sized totes, but nowadays I by far prefer a moderately sized satchel or bucket bag. As long as its got room for the essentials and perhaps a snack or two then I'm good and *bonus* no dead arm side effect.

So, now I'm officially converted, this Ralph Lauren houndstooth hand-me-down has been the perfect accessory to run around with. The emblem, sneaky front pocket and hints of baby blue embedded in the pattern are what wins me over about this little guy - he's the perfect way to add a punch to my sometimes plain way of dressing.

Whats been on your summer rotation?

HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY: Not falling during my acceptance! And so, so much more...

____________________________________________________________________

This July I've seen myself surpass a lot of milestones. First of all, I am a graduate (photos were a sort of giveaway, no?). I had a lovely time spent in sunny Bath, surrounded by some of my nearest and dearest on the big day. Those select few happened to include the apple of eye - my boyfriend David - who even got in a rare photograph with me! So for those of you whom aren't familiar, there's now a face to put to the name!
Side note: those robes in 25 degree heat? Jeeeeeeeeeez.

Secondly, E-MIWT? is now officially a one year old! Despite the ups and downs in terms of consistency here, I'm glad to say I feel happier with my baby blog than ever before, with a strong schedule to now keep me in check. She really is my dream and I can't wait to keep on posting, so thank you to all readers old and new for the support :-*

Lastly, speaking of birthdays, Tuesday marks my 22nd. I have to say, this years turning of age is very bitter sweet as I leave 21 behind and hit the realisation that its aaaaall downhill from here. Nevertheless, with a cinema/nandos date planned as well as a family get-together I know it'll be a wonderful day full of fun, food and hopefully a pretty present or two if I'm lucky!

See what I mean? A lot of somewhat important life transitions are happening for little old me right now, so much so its nice for me to just be able to sit down and catch my breath. Nonetheless, they've all bought me nothing but good things so I'm a very happy, if a little sleepy bunny.

Happy Sunday you

HANDBAGS & GRAD-RAGS

15/07/2015

BREAKFAST: Bagel

ON MY LIPS: M.A.C Pure Zen

CURRENT TWEET: 'Smoked salmon and soft cheese is just aaaaaah.. no words'

HIGHLIGHT OF MY DAY: Coming home after a laaawng day

____________________________________________________________________

With graduation in a couple of days, I thought I would give you lovely bunch a glimpse of my decided outfit. I am not a formalwear kind of girl - you'll sooner find me in a men's shirt than a fancy frock - so I have tried to suit and boot myself as poshly as possible, whilst also staying true to my personal style...

Firstly, I have opted for an all-white ensemble. What else?

Secondly, the outfit comprises of three parts: dress, suit jacket and snakeskin accessories. The dress I actually wore to my university ball just recently and due to its versatility, I saw no reason not to recycle it into a timeless grad dress. The key piece however is the jacket. The pinstripes, the boyfriend cut, the lovely lapels - all of these attributes are what makes it my ultimate jacket, and with photographs that'll stay with me for the rest of my days, I wouldn't want to be pictured in anything else. A small investment, sure, but with key pieces such as this I don't mind spending a pretty penny...

I'll be uploading my favourite photos from the big day and giving you a little life update this coming weekend, so stay tuned for the final result and wish me luck on the almighty walk of doom!

Best wishes to all my fellow graduates!

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: Rudimental's Rumour Mill on repeat

So in the sidebar I described my style as minimal tailoring meets grunge; this ootd certainly falls under the grunge element. On a free day my off-duty vibe is, more often than not, built up of some distressed denim, an oversized tee and an androgynous shoe, so what you see here is definitely an old favourite on rotation. However if there is no pressing place I need to be, baggy tees and boyfriend boxers come up trumps every time.

Anyway, being that its a fairly busy day off, here's what the outset looks like:

1/ hair wash day
2/ piercings with my twinsie bec
3/ photos for this little guy
4/ an evening send off for my lovely em who flies back to fuerta ventura in the morning :'(
5/ a good nights sleep ready for tomorrow's shift

What's your ideal day off?

P.S. I went for a conch piercing!

5 THINGS TO SMILE ABOUT NO. 2

08/07/2015

BREAKFAST: Toast

CURRENT TWEET: 'Changing fresh bedsheets: hell

                      Just changed fresh bedsheets: heaven'

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: As said, the fresh white sheets

____________________________________________________________________

1/ the small things: simple home comforts

Things like my bedroom, Dave's Bassett and mum's cooking are things I really missed whilst being away at university, and whilst I'm so sad that chapter of my life is finito, I have to hand it to Dorothy - there's no place like home.

2/ my relationship with denim

I'm sure many people are on the same wavelength as me on this one. Denim. Is. Life. I'm so into double/triple/quadruple denim after feeling the full effects of ASOS STYLIST ISABELLAcos oh boy can she dress. That, teamed with the 70s/90s revival combined? I am well and truly stocked up on all jeans and jackets a wash of blue.

3/ anything mint

Ice cream. Mojitos. Fragrances. I just want all things minty fresh in my life right now.

4/ a page-turner

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN encompasses everything I look for in a book - a thriller full of clever twists, interesting characters and a fresh format. I've always been a little bookworm, so finding a good read is always sure to get me in better spirits, and with this guy I found I was actually capping my intake of pages so I could really savour the storyNext book on my list?  THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO.

5/ my PINTEREST board

Because she's my baby.

And the things that narrowly missed the cut? TRUE DETECTIVE, my bargain sunnies, LOREAL'S PISTACHIO DRAGE NAIL VARNISH and again, those fresh, fresh sheets...

____________________________________________________________________

Following on from my last post 10 REASONS WHY I LOVE TO WEAR WHITE, I decided it was only right to pop a few featured pieces on for my next OOTD. With the weather in England cranking up a several notches, this little makeshift halo hair-do has been a god send, fastening away all those pesky fly aways that are just too short for a ponytail. I especially love pairing this braid with androgynous/athletic shapes to toughen things up, giving it the masculine kick it needs to fit in with my everyday aesthetic.

Playing with contrasts of cut, material and vibe are what I love about an all white ensemble; the pretty, lace shorts and boyfriend blazer juxtapose in the good sort of way (right?), and *sigh* those subtle pin-striped cuffs make me go all gooey inside.

Happy weekend wonderful
