Ask any girl and I'll agree with them: a LBD is very important business. It's timeless, versatile and always flattering - unless you're me. In my always-oversized state of mind, this UO number falls wide in every way and for that very reason it has me down to a T.  It hides all the babies - food, booze, and the real thing I'd expect too. Ultimately, its a true testament to the idea that there is a little black dress for us all.
And what's more? I love myself a day dress.

We all know how favourites on E-MIWT? work by now, so no need for an introduction - lets just jump straight in...

For style favourites its a tie between both my lovely winter coat and my lovely winter boots. With the turn in weather, its only been about investment buys to beat off the cold, even if only for the walk to the car *guilty*.
Speaking of, this Cruella DeVil-esque POM-POM has been the ultimate life saver when fumbling for my keys in the black hole that is my handbag.
Getting back to the point though, my ZARA coat has been target to many compliments and only a couple of dressing gown jokes, therefore it is a warm, welcome addition to any outfit [see this OOTD if you're not already sold].
As for the TOPSHOP BARDOT boots, I'm braving the brutal wearing-in phase as the girls are so worth it - fingers crossed I pull through with my toes still intact...

For beauty, a plum coloured BLUSHER made its way out from the depths of my makeup drawer back into my everyday routine, as a pinched pink cheek teamed with rich BRONZE eyes and a 90's nude lip combo was my go-to all month long. And, of course, M.A.C's WHIRL X VELVET TEDDY made for the happy ending to October's makeup story.

As for life, I had the good kind of surprise in an unexpected film favourite. THE MARTIAN was oddly funny and left me blubbing at a potato patch too - have a watch and you'll see what I mean...
In the spirit of cold seasons and therefore good TV, SUNBEAMSJESS's vlogtober entries have been my very, very favourite, especially when teamed with my favourite YANKEE candle and a good bad snack. Speaking of food, a WAGAMAMA katsu curry with japanese pickles was never far from my mind this month either.

Happy November

When I was planning this post I considered writing a how to for cropped kick flares, but lets be honest: they kind of go against all of fashion's big beliefs. My boyfriend branded me a WWII child in them, my sister a 'mod mum', so naturally I haven't taken them off once since buying them.

Rule of thumb: If you hate it, I probably already have it.
Probably not the best way to build a blog following *face palm*

Anywho, with my ankle swingers in tow, my week has been made up of all the usj - running errands, regretting all the money I spent at the weekend and living that retail life. Now Christmas is on the rise (which I'm so glad to finally say out loud) I plan to work, read and burn as many candles as possible. Winter has me hook, line and sinker.

LATEST PURCHASE: A caramel latte

CURRENT READ: Dear Daughter by Elizabeth Little (I'll keep you posted...)

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: Being asked back to ITV THIS MORNING as cover on Friday
_________________________________________________

As promised, a layered-up ootd in favour of keeping warm on these cold, autumn days.
On this very bright morning (hence the seriously scrunched up face) I was headed out w my madre for a spot of shopping and a wagamama's; a meal that sadly never quite happened *siiiigh*. Anyway, with flitting in and out of shops and a lot of time spent in badly-lit fitting rooms on the brain, I wanted to wear a stack of layers that I could slip and swap in and out of and all the while stay looking in a semi-respectable state.

This coat and cardigan combi worn over an all-navy base made for the right kind of autumnal attire, plus any excuse to wear a roll neck really. I'm definitely developing a thing for anything that comes up near my ears this season. Well... if that even is a thing?

P.S. Yes, those are new boots...
And yes, I am going to be very hungry this month.

My wardrobe is made up of a few things: a lot of white, even more black, a bit of grey and a mound of mostly blue denim. Why do I love it so much? Well...

1/ its casual
2/ its the epitome of cool
3/ the androgyny
4/ how easy it is to layer
5/ the nostalgia
6/ because double plus denim is godly good
7/ trans-seasonal
8/ fits any style brief: grunge, boho, classic
9/ it is so versatile
10/ and you can just never have enough

So consider yourself officially enabled to go shopping this weekend, basically.

Key pieces of mine are:
a LEVI denim jacket | navy JAMIE jeans | a denim SHIRT

OFF-DUTY

22/10/2015

LATEST PURCHASE: A Chinese takeaway w/ my girls

ON MY LIPS: M.A.C Oak

CANDLE I'M BURNING: YANKEE salted caramel

HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: That its a day less until Christmas than yesterday eeeeeee
_________________________________________________

First things first, HEL-LOOO roots! You can tell festive season is settling in as apparently I'm already skimping on general upkeep in favour of early present-buying (yes, I'm one of those), so please pardon the very bad hair day at hand *read: for the foreseeable future*.

What you see here is a classic example of my a/w uniform. I have been itching to get last year's ZARA knit out from its hiding place in the depths of my drawers for so so long, that I think it'll rarely leave my shoulders now. The quality and weight of it is like nothing else I own and I'm so glad that khaki loving is alive as ever.
Despite my long-lasting love though, I already have my peepers on this year's ZARA knitwear contenders: see HERE and HERE - what do you lovely lot think? (psssst, say neither - save me from myself).

As for the jeans and shoes, distressed denim and a manly shoe is nothing short of the usual at e-miwt?, I'm sure you'll agree.
Lastly the leather - another ZARA number if you were wondering - is great for layering under a sleeveless coat or over an open shirt. In fact, if you would like to see how I layer up for cold weather then tap out a comment saying so!

Happy Friday Eve you,

XELISHA-MAE

As time has gone on, its fair to say my M.A.C lipliner collection is looking a little hefty now; big enough to create post's worth at last! My obsession is primarily made up from a weakness for all things nude with a matte finish, however you will find a few alternative shades tossed in too. They last a lifetime -both as a product and on the lips - and basically I'm just a sucker for these little love sticks. Cracking on, the collection is as follows...

boldly bare
           /
bought on recommendation by SONYA ESMAN, BOLDLY BARE is one of my most worn shades.
i would class her as a sort of everyday pink/rosey nude, something appropriate for anything and everything.

soar
           /
my 'night-out nude'. i would class SOAR as a colour cross between mauve, pink and nude, fitting in my collection as a deeper version of boldly bare.
for extra longevity, i like to pair with the lipstick MEHR, which is another YOUTUBE recommendation,
this time from the lovely LILY PEBBLES.

3/ whirl
           /
a lipliner i admit to having worn very rarely.
i would class this shade as a browner equivalent of soar and for whatever reason unbeknown to me,
WHIRL just seems to always lose out in favour of my other nude liners *naaaawh*.

4/ stripdown
           /
another of my most worn liners. STRIP DOWN is a brown nude with a real 90's kickback,
i love it best when worn with YASH lipstick, day or night.
and yes, i will certainly hold my hands up to having overdrawn with it once or twice...

5/ oak
            /
perhaps the least worn 'kylie jenner shade' in my collection.
i personally find it a cooler version of strip down, and therefore seem to reach for her in favour of OAK.
it's no fault of oak, just me, I'm afraid, as it is a lovely taupe/brown colour.

6/ stone
            /
STONE is a dark brown, along the same lines as oak but just packing in a little more punch through depth of colour.
it's my go-to statement lip and i love wearing it with either
STYLED IN SEPIA (limited edition, sorry) or FILM NOIR.

7/ burgundy
             /
my most recent buy, BURGUNDY was bought with autumn in mind.
berry or brown reds are typically the only hue of red i'll wear these days, however if i'm heading for something a little more classic,
i'll pop a little RUSSIAN RED over top for something more hollywood.

8/ nightmoth
             /
and lastly, NIGHTMOTH. She is very dark, be warned, but i've grown to love her.
Again, I like to bring in FILM NOIR to really vamp things up - i love to wear a dark lip day or night,
so no limitations here.

And still on my wishlist? SUBCULTURE and CHESTNUT. You know, because I'm so lacking in both nude and brown shades... doy.

Happy weekend wonderful,

XELISHA-MAE

For the final instalment of E-MIWT? X AUTUMN I wanted to leave you with an edit of my top five seasonal staples. The best bit about a new season is a fresh sniff of new clothes and I've definitely got my peepers on a few on-trend items: cropped flares and sleeveless coats, namely. However, there are a few non-negotiables that I flock to year in and year out, that I wanted to put to you in a slightly more Pinterest-y format...

1/ big jumpers
2/ black boots
3/ dark wash jeans
4/ an (even bigger) coat
5/ a trouser suit

Et voila!
What are your top five autumn items?
