WARDROBE STAPLES | THE TOP 10

With September fast approaching it's only a matter of time before I'm back at university for my third and final year of art study *deep breaths*, so what better way to get back into the swing of creating than to making a doodly post dedicated to the ten non-negotiables I think every girl should have in their closet?

My wardrobe staples [in no particular order]:

  • The LBD/LBP - The little black dress/little black playsuit - depending how lady-like you are
  • A shirt - white, checked, whatever your heart desires
  • A basic tee - the softer, the better
  • Black skinny jeans - self-explanatory
  • An oversized jumper - perfect for layering
  • The day dress - for some femininity and to remind us Brits in winter that summer wasn't just a dream
  • A leather jacket - pleather or the real deal: timeless, just make sure you keep them simple!
  • A coat - trench, duster, boyfriend and parkas are my favourites
  • A basic crop - for layering under thinner fabrics, big nights out, or as a stand in for your bra (way comfier)
  • Black boots - just because

All in all, not exactly rocket science but we've all been guilty of forgetting the importance of basic pieces in favour of fleeting trends, so I thought I would share with you my most loved and frequented clothes. I'm actually lusting over a new pleather jacket from Zara - student, remember? - as my current one is starting to look more than a little outdated. I know, rookie mistake.

If you'd like to see some styling of said pieces in a little look book let me know in the comments and I hope you liked this slightly more creative style of post.

Happy hump day
